Today marks exactly one week since I took off from LAX and began my adventure to South America. It's only been one week, but it's already been full of new friends, new tastes, sights, and experiences that have been both frightening and amazing.
My travels started with a bang with a huge lighting storm in San Salvador upon my arrival by plane, which caused a massive delay in my travel plans. But thankfully, I met an amazing group of people with a final destination to Cuzco. An added night in Guatemala City wasn't apart of my original itinerary, but that's the thing about traveling. It's purely all about the adventure.
When I finally arrived to Cuzco, it was a surreal moment. I couldn't believe I was finally in South America. I was introduced to my house, roommates, and volunteer placement. I am to work at a convent teaching English to the group of girls who caretake for the elderly whom live there. I have a feeling this will be the most challenging, yet rewarding experience of my life.
